Mohammed Goolshad Miah

As someone without a scientific background, my journey with Rochdale Science Initiative C.I.C (RSI) began when Labib and his father, Mohammed Rahman, a close friend, shared their inspiring vision of bringing science events to our town. It was at that moment when Mohammed Rahman approached me for assistance in organising an event at Wardleworth Community Centre, Rochdale.

Inspired by the event's success and the positive feedback from our community, I couldn't turn down the opportunity to be a part of this groundbreaking organisation. As the chairman of Rochdale Science Initiative C.I.C, I take immense pride in our evolution from Labib's dream of a Science event to our current endeavors, which include hosting STEM sessions, holiday activities, and our most notable achievement, collaborating with prominent organisations to organise Science Extravaganza events throughout our home town Rochdale.

We have received invaluable support from organisations such as The Ogden Trust, Rochdale Borough Council, and the Institute of Physics, among others. Our vision has remained steadfast: to make science accessible, particularly to our local community. We have acknowledged the potential of our younger generation, 

often overlooked due to the lack of guidance, particularly within their own ethnic communities. In response, we have embarked on a mission to connect them with professionals from diverse science and technology sectors across the country, providing mentorship and guidance to help them make informed decisions for their future. It brings me great joy to collaborate with this fantastic team.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the future of RSI and the positive change we can bring to our town. I eagerly anticipate RSI, creating more inclusive opportunities for local young people and adults. It is my goal to contribute my efforts to taking RSI from strength to strength. Together with the vision of our Founding CEO, Mohammed Attaur Rahman, and our dedicated team of directors, we are committed to expanding our reach and impact, ensuring that science becomes accessible to individuals of all backgrounds in our community. By continuing to foster partnerships, organise engaging events, and provide mentorship, we can empower and inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators. I am excited about the future of RSI and the positive change we can bring to our town.
