Katherine Platt Influencing & Engagement Team Leader at the Institute of Physics

Katherine Platt, the Influencing & Engagement Team Leader at the Institute of Physics, expressed her excitement about partnering with the Rochdale Science Initiative, stating, "Working with Rochdale Science Initiative is the perfect collaboration for the Institute of Physics."

She emphasized the shared objectives of both organizations, saying, "We share the same aims of building a thriving, diverse Physics community and addressing the STEM skills shortage by ensuring that everyone has access to physics education and training."

Platt acknowledged the unique perspective and expertise of the people of Rochdale, who initiated the project for their community. She stated, "They are the people of Rochdale, and they created it for the people of Rochdale. We aren't experts on what people in Rochdale want and need, but they are." Recognizing the opportunity to expand their reach, Platt added, "By supporting them, we would be helping them reach an audience we may not have gotten to."

Furthermore, Platt praised the Rochdale Science Initiative for their efforts in dispelling the notion that physics is a challenging and exclusive subject. She remarked, "Physics has a reputation for being hard and exclusive, and the company really breaks down those barriers and shows that science is fun and relevant."
